Young Carers

I care for someone …

What South and Vale Young Carers Project Provides

  • Help to get extra support at school, if needed
  • Time out from your caring role through trips and activities
  • Opportunities to meet other young carers
  • Someone to talk to in confidence
  • Information and advice about how you and your family can get practical or financial help

Whatever you do to help care in the family you are a young person to, there maybe times when you need extra help or support.

  • You maybe finding it difficult to juggle your responsibilities at home with the pressures and demands of school life
  • It maybe difficult for you to relax and have fun
  • You may find it embarrassing or hard to talk to friends about how you feel or worry about being teased

Trips and Activities

South and Vale Carers offers a range of trips and activities for young carers specifically for 8 to 13 year and 13 to 18 year olds. The trips and activities are free for young carers to attend. Young Carers booking onto a trip will be visited by our Project Worker in advance of the trip to chat through their needs and caring role. Normally one trip is arranged each month.

South and Vale Carers also arranges training for young carers in skills which will be of use in their caring roles such as First Aid and manual handling.
